How stem cells remember their past

نویسندگان

چکیده

Somatic stem cells are required for tissue development, homeostasis, and repair. Recent data suggested that previous biographical experiences of individual influence their behavior in the context formation govern cell responses to external stimuli. Here we provide a concise review how cell's biography, example, rounds divisions or age-dependent accumulation cellular damage, is remembered affect segregation components, thus guiding vertebrate cells. Further, suggest future directions research may help unravel molecular underpinnings past guide behavior.

How we remember the emotional intensity of past musical experiences

Listening to music usually elicits emotions that can vary considerably in their intensity over the course of listening. Yet, after listening to a piece of music, people are easily able to evaluate the music's overall emotional intensity. There are two different hypotheses about how affective experiences are temporally processed and integrated: (1) all moments' intensities are integrated, result...

How do we remember the past in randomised strategies?

Graph games of infinite length are a natural model for open reactive processes: one player represents the controller, trying to ensure a given specification, and the other represents a hostile environment. The evolution of the system depends on the decisions of both players, supplemented by chance. In this work, we focus on the notion of randomised strategy. More specifically, we show that thre...

Episodic memory: what can animals remember about their past?

The question of whether episodic memory, the ability to recall unique, personal experiences, is restricted to humans is a matter of current controversy. Recent work on food-storing jays suggests that several features of episodic memory may not be as exclusive to humans as previously thought. In this review we outline the critical features of episodic memory in humans, its relationship to declar...

Small RNAs: How Seeds Remember To Obey Their Mother

The endosperm is one of two products from the double fertilization event that occurs during sexual reproduction in flowering plants. A series of recent reports highlights the unusual genetic regulatory mechanisms that occur in endosperm and suggests a role for transposon regulation in imprinting.

Understanding pluripotency--how embryonic stem cells keep their options open.

Embryonic stem (ES) cells have the capacity to proliferate indefinitely in culture while maintaining the ability to differentiate to form any of the cells of the body. This unique combination of functions suggests that these cells could provide a potentially unlimited source of differentiated cells for the treatment of disease and aging. Understanding the molecular processes that underpin these...
